All Good

We’re all fine here.  God has answered many prayers:  there is virtually no wind and it’s humid.  So the fires aren’t moving much, most of the evacuation orders have been lifted, and we had our son’s birthday party today (14 kids at 10:00 a.m.).  Actually, he’s 5.5, but since his birthday’s on Christmas day, we have a party in June!

We’ve had some really nice sunsets… and a few new ideas on how God might pull off “The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.” Joe 2:31.

Great weekend at church.  An outstanding job by our worship team, under Jon Lepinski’s leadership.  And an okay sermon by me!

Thanks for the offers of help, the expressions of concern, and the many prayers.  We’re doing fine.  It doesn’t even smell smoky.  Pray for the firefighters!  Thanks.

  1. Whew! Thanks for the update! Glad all is well.

I woke this morning smelling smoke! It is scary, isn’t it? So far, just smelling smoke and no fire! Not unusual in a state that has 1600 fires going right now.

  2. You’re being too modest. The worship service last weekend was awesome, but this sermon series has been equally awesome. The CD’s have been scooped up every weekend, a sure sign the message is touching hearts.

Congrats on the book – my 2009 Christmas gift list is complete! (Well, almost complete).

  3. We have been on vacation in So. Cal. for my oldest son’s wedding ….We heard about the fires and were getting sketchy updates from friends and family still in Shingletown . We were told it was about 3miles from our home. It puts things into perspective because we were primarily concerned about family and friends , pets and photos and videos of friends and family. Everything else can be replaced …Sure we would miss “the stuff” (my books, mementos, toys etc.) but it all was given to us by God and He can take or use it whenever….but he is always so good to us and spared us …good to hear you are ok as well .
I missed hearing the two latest installments of your WOW series and caught up today on the website…man …you were smokin !! Keep up the heat !! I am giving copies of “Heartburn ” to some young folks at work…Blessings , Jim
